Cybersecurity M&A Roundup for October 2021

The number of cybersecurity-related mergers and acquisitions announced in the past months has remained constant, with 41 deals announced in October 2021.

October 1-10

11:11 Systems acquires Green Cloud Defense

Managed infrastructure solutions provider 11:11 Systems acquired Green Cloud Defense, a cloud infrastructure-as-a-service provider that specializes in managed cloud security solutions. The deal will help 11:11 Systems expand its capabilities and grow its customer base.

Amber Group acquires NightVizion

Jamaica-based Amber Group announced the acquisition of NightVizion, a US-based application security firm owned by the Vizius Group. NightVizion will be renamed Amber CyberEye following the acquisition. The goal of the acquisition is to expand the Amber Group’s cybersecurity offering.

Chainalysis acquires Excygent

Blockchain data platform Chainalysis acquired Excygent, a professional services firm that assists organizations in the public and private sectors with cybercrime investigations. Chainalysis said the acquisition of Excygent will enable it to expand its offering to government agencies.

Coalition acquires Attune Insurance

Cyber insurance company Coalition acquired Attune Insurance, a managing general agent (MGA) and technology-powered broker platform for commercial insurance. Coalition said the combined entity will be the world’s largest commercial insurtech provider, with over 130,000 customers.

Deloitte acquires Sliced Tech

Professional services giant Deloitte acquired Sliced Tech, an Australia-based company that provides high-security cloud managed services. Deloitte said the deal will enable it to expand its reach. Deloitte praised Sliced Tech for its ability to address the security and data privacy requirements of public sector organizations that use cloud services.

MasterPeace Solutions acquires Full Suite Solutions

MasterPeace Solutions, a U.S. government contractor that specializes in cybersecurity and intelligence, acquired Full Suite Solutions (FSS), which provides software and services to intelligence agencies. The deal will enable MasterPeace Solutions to expand.

One Identity acquires OneLogin

Identity security provider One Identity acquired identity access management (IAM) firm OneLogin. The deal will enable One Identity to expand its Unified Identity Security Platform. The combined entity will serve more than 10,000 customers worldwide.

SystemLabs acquires RedCoin

IT company SystemLabs acquired cybersecurity firm RedCoin. Both companies are based in New Jersey. SystemLabs said the acquisition will help it expand its cybersecurity capabilities and products.

WidePoint acquires IT Authorities

Trusted mobility management solutions provider WidePoint has acquired IT Authorities (ITA), an MSP, MSSP and CSP. The acquisition is expected to help WidePoint expand and enhance its capabilities.

Ampa acquires CSS Assure

Legal and professional services company Ampa has acquired cybersecurity firm CSS Assure, which specializes in data protection and risk management. Both companies are based in the UK. The CSS Assure brand will remain.

Cellebrite acquires Digital Intelligence

Israel-based digital intelligence solutions provider Cellebrite, which is known for helping law enforcement extract data from locked mobile phones, announced buying Swiss OSINT company Digital Intelligence. The acquisition will help Cellebrite expand its work in the areas of law enforcement intelligence and investigation.

Dataminr acquires Krizo

Real-time information discovery platform Dataminr is acquiring enterprise crisis response platform Krizo. The capabilities of Krizo will be integrated into Dataminr Pulse, which is designed for physical safety and security, cyber threat detection, and reputational risk. The acquisition of Krizo will further deepen Dataminr’s client footprint across Europe.

Forcepoint acquires Bitglass

Secure access and data protection solutions provider Forcepoint announced the acquisition of Security Service Edge (SSE) firm Bitglass. Bitglass’ SSE platform compliments Forcepoint’s offering. Once the acquisition has been completed, Forcepoint will share details on how Bitglass will be integrated within its SASE architecture.

HelpSystems acquires PhishLabs

Cybersecurity and automation solutions provider HelpSystems is buying threat intelligence company PhishLabs. The acquisition will enable HelpSystems to expand its cybersecurity portfolio.

HSB acquires Zeguro’s cybersecurity platform

Specialty insurer HSB acquired Zeguro’s cybersecurity platform. The platform, Zeguro Cyber Safety, includes risk management and other services for small businesses, and it will strengthen HSB’s cybersecurity services.

INE acquires Pentester Academy

IT training firm INE acquired Pentester Academy, which will help it create scenario-based training tools for cybersecurity, networking, data science, cloud and DevOps.

Keysight Technologies acquires SCALABLE Network Technologies

Testing and measurement equipment firm Keysight Technologies announced buying SCALABLE Network Technologies, which provides network simulation solutions to model and visualize communications networks and cyber threats. The acquisition will help Keysight improve its 5G and cybersecurity portfolios.

KnowBe4 acquires SecurityAdvisor

Security awareness training firm KnowBe4 is expanding its capabilities through the acquisition of SecurityAdvisor, which focuses on awareness training and insights associated with human behavior. KnowBe4 will pay $80 million in cash and stock for SecurityAdvisor.

Plurilock acquires assets of CloudCodes

Identity-focused cybersecurity firm Plurilock has acquired some assets of India-based cloud security firm CloudCodes. Canada-based Plurilock will pay $1.7 million for CloudCodes, which will help it enhance its capabilities.

RealDefense acquires STOPzilla

RealDefense, a holding company that develops security, privacy and optimization software for consumers and small businesses, acquired antivirus and optimization software maker STOPzilla. The STOPzilla brand will remain. This is RealDefense’s fourth cybersecurity acquisition and the company says it’s looking to acquire more security firms and brands.

SIA acquires Net Studio

Spain-based tech and consulting firm Indra, specifically its cybersecurity subsidiary SIA, is buying Italy-based digital identity and access management company Net Studio. The deal will help SIA expand and strengthen its capabilities and accelerate its international expansion.

Summit Partners acquires majority stake in Invicti Security

Growth equity investor Summit Partners has acquired a majority stake in application security testing firm Invicti Security for $625 million. The investment will help Invicti expand its product and its international growth.

Sollensys acquires Abstract Media

Blockchain-based cybersecurity firm Sollensys has acquired AR/VR company Abstract Media. Sollensys says the acquisition will enable it to protect corporate training from cybercriminals.

Sysnet Global Solutions acquires Trustwave division SecureTrust

Cybersecurity and compliance solutions provider Sysnet Global Solutions has acquired Trustwave’s SecureTrust division, which should help it further expand its solutions and accelerate market expansion. SecureTrust specializes in PCI compliance. Sysnet Global Solutions will pay $80 million for SecureTrust.

BlueVoyant acquires 202 Group

Supply chain risk management solutions provider BlueVoyant announced buying 202 Group, which provides similar solutions to government organizations. The companies said the combined solution will help government entities continuously monitor their supply chain for third-party risks.

Cerberus Sentinel acquires RED74

Cybersecurity consulting and MSSP Cerberus Cyber Sentinel has acquired MSSP RED74. RED74 will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Cerberus and will continue to focus on integrated risk managed services.

Clavister acquires Omen Technologies

Network security company Clavister acquired Omen Technologies, a developer of AI-driven cybersecurity technology for IoT and IIoT, for roughly $1.75 million. Both companies are based in Sweden. Omen’s staff and business will be transferred to Clavister, and the plan is to fully integrate Omen technology into Clavister products within two years. The acquisition will enable Clavister to enhance its portfolio.

Convergence Group acquires AIT

Telecoms provider Convergence Group acquired connectivity and security solutions provider AIT. Both companies are based in the UK. The acquisition of AIT, an MSP that focuses on wireless, threat detection and data center infrastructure, will help Convergence increase its revenue and customer base.

HelpSystems acquires Digital Guardian

IT management and software powerhouse HelpSystems announced buying data loss prevention specialist Digital Guardian. The deal will enable HelpSystems to extend its data loss prevention capabilities.

JPX Global merges with VeeMost Technologies

JPX Global is merging with cloud and cybersecurity solutions provider VeeMost Technologies. JPX will be renamed VeeMost Technologies as a result of the deal, which involves VeeMost acquiring a majority control of JPX in an all-cash transaction. JPX started out as a waste management company and later announced shifting into the cannabis sector.

Kaspersky acquires Brain4Net

Kaspersky bought Brain4Net, a company that specializes in networking solutions. Kaspersky said the acquisition will enable it to boost its extended detection and response (XDR) platform with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) capabilities.

Microsoft acquires Two Hat

Microsoft has announced the acquisition of Two Hat, which specializes in content moderation solutions. The tech giant has been working with Two Hat to detect and remove harmful comments in gaming and other services. Microsoft says it will work with Two Hat on online safety and digital wellness solutions.

Onfido acquires EYN

Identity verification and authentication provider Onfido acquired EYN, a UK-based biometric tech company. EYN’s acoustic liveness technology will be incorporated into Onfido’s Real Identity Platform, strengthening image-based biometric anti-spoofing capabilities to give customers greater assurances that remotely onboarded users are who they claim to be.

Scanmarket acquires Symfact AG

Denmark-based source-to-contract (S2C) solutions provider Scanmarket purchased Switzerland-based Symfact, which specializes in contract lifecycle management, third-party risk management, and legal entity management software. The deal will help Scanmarket expand its capabilities and boost its customers’ ability to secure supply chains.

Sev1Tech acquires Geocent

Sev1Tech, a company specializing in cloud, cybersecurity and other IT services, acquired Geocent, which is known for its DevSecOps and engineering services. Both companies are government contractors and Sev1Tech said the acquisition will help it bolster mission-focused services.

Snyk acquires CloudSkiff

Developer security company Snyk has acquired France-based cloud security firm CloudSkiff, which is known for developing the open source infrastructure drift detection tool driftctl. Snyk said the acquisition will help it gain new capabilities for detecting infrastructure drift, but it has promised to keep driftctl open source.

Sollensys acquires Celerit

Blockchain-based data security company Sollensys is buying IT services provider Celerit. The acquisition, Sollensys said, will accelerate its ability to integrate cybersecurity recovery into banking. The companies will merge once the deal is closed.

SUSE acquires NeuVector

Open source software company SUSE has acquired container security firm NeuVector for $130 million. NeuVector technology will be integrated into the SUSE Rancher enterprise Kubernetes platform.

Tetra Tech acquires Enterprise Automation

Consulting and engineering services provider Tetra Tech acquired Enterprise Automation, which specializes in industrial control and automation system consulting and engineering services. Tetra Tech helps organizations in the water sector strengthen cybersecurity and improve operational efficiency, and the addition of Enterprise Automation will help it further expand its solutions.

TransUnion acquires Sontiq

Credit reporting agency TransUnion is acquiring identity security solutions provider Sontiq for $638 million. Sontiq’s identity monitoring products have already leveraged credit data from TransUnion.

Xperience acquires Green Duck

Northern Ireland-based IT solutions provider Xperience acquired England-based cloud and cybersecurity company Green Duck. Green Duck, whose cybersecurity services focus on assessment, will help Xperience enhance its cloud and cybersecurity offerings. Green Duck  will trade under the Xperience brand.
